Director Van Huss used his update to highlight recent student outcomes, community events and personnel changes.
"There were we had a 94 pass rate on that, which is exceptional," Van Huss said of the Elizabethton High School CNA certification cohort, noting 16 newly certified students were ready to enter healthcare roles. He also reported that the district's ACT composite score is 20 compared with a state composite of 19.3, and called the district's performance "fantastic."
Van Huss mentioned the recent RCAP ribbon cutting and announced that a production company will premiere a documentary featuring student work on unsolved cases at the Sundance Film Festival in Colorado in January 2026. "We'll have some representatives that will be out there for that as well," he said.
The director also introduced Tyler Williams as the new finance director and noted staff transitions related to a retirement. Van Huss reminded the board that Christmas break begins the following day and reviewed the January return-to-school schedule.
The remarks were informational; no budget or personnel action was taken at this time beyond the public introduction of the new finance director.
