The Jasper City Council unanimously approved three alcohol-license applications during its regular meeting. Assistant Chief Atkins told the council each applicant had met requirements of state law and city ordinances and that the police department had no objection to the licenses.
One license approved was an off-premises retail beer and table-wine permit for a business at 1385 Arcadelphia Road. The council then approved a package-license application for Jasper Liquor, also at 1385 Arcadelphia Road. A third license, for Food City at 2405 Highway 78 East, was approved as an off-premises retail beer and table-wine permit.
Each item was opened for public hearing; no speakers offered comment. Council members made motions, seconded them, and voted yes on each item.
The approvals were routine: council members cited that the applicants complied with state law and local ordinance requirements and that police had no objections. There was no additional public debate or conditions attached to the approvals.
