County hears phone-system renewal proposal; vendor says trimming call‑recording seats could cut about $660/month

Morgan County commissioners heard a presentation from the county's phone-system vendor about renewing the service agreement and the configuration of call-recording seats.

David, the vendor representative, told commissioners the county owns its phone hardware and that a new 36‑month renewal could lock in pricing while keeping existing equipment. He said the county could reduce the number of call-recording seats from the higher number previously quoted and described the seats as "automatically recorded" and archived in the cloud for later review: "Those calls are being automatically recorded... all those conversations are recorded indefinitely in the cloud securely." Commissioners pressed for a reduced seat count and an updated price.

The vendor agreed to send an updated proposal reflecting 13 recorded seats. David told the commission that the reduction in recorded seats would lower the county's monthly cost by roughly $660: "That's about another $660 a month lower than you're at today." Commissioners directed staff to add the revised proposal to a future agenda for possible formal action before the vendor's pricing deadline in late January.
