Pasco School Board swears in new members and elects Scott Lerman president

The Pasco School Board of Directors opened its Dec. 9 meeting by swearing in newly elected directors and completing an annual board reorganization.
Heather Tugholik, Scott Lerman and Amanda Brown each took the oath of office to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Washington and to “faithfully discharge the duties” of director of Pasco School District No. 1, Franklin County. After the oaths, the board moved to approve minutes from its Nov. 12, 2025 meeting; a member who had not attended abstained and the motion passed on a voice vote.
Nominations for board president produced two candidates. Following a roll-call vote, Scott Lerman was elected president and assumed leadership of the meeting. Nominations for vice president produced two candidates as well; Director Steve Norberg was elected vice president by roll-call vote.
The board also completed a routine roll call and announced there were no changes to the published agenda and no executive session would be requested that night.
The newly constituted leadership will preside over the board’s regular business, including the study-session schedule and reports the board directed staff to prepare in coming months.
