The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education voted to adopt a resolution authorizing acquisition of a parcel of real property from the Thornton Development Authority to support the redesign and rebuild of Thornton High School.
District counsel and staff described the property as located just north of the existing Thornton High campus and said the board had been briefed on the negotiations for months. A district staff member told the board the transaction is scheduled to close on Friday and urged approval so the title company and the city would see the district's intent.
The resolution passed by roll call with Directors Assad Lucas, Battistelli, Goldstein and Potter recorded as "Aye." Board discussion was limited; staff advised that they had coordinated with the city and the Thornton Development Authority and recommended approval to complete the scheduled closing.
The board did not discuss purchase price or financing details in open session; staff indicated those were the results of prior negotiations and are part of the transactional record with the title company and city.
