Haverford Township SD board holds reorganization: officers elected, solicitors appointed

The Haverford Township SD Board of School Directors completed its annual reorganization at a public meeting in which newly elected members were sworn, board officers were chosen and outside legal firms were appointed.

Latanya King took the oath of office and was elected board president for a one-year term. "So I, Latanya King, do solemnly swear that I will support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity," King said on the record after being nominated and approved by voice vote.

The board also elected Chris Shelton as vice president for a one-year term after nominations were opened and closed; the motion carried by voice vote with no opposed votes recorded in the meeting transcript.

Newly elected and re-elected members delivered their certificates of election in person and were administered the oath on the record. Nicole Snyder and Kimberly McKay recited the oath in full during the swearing-in: "I, Nicole Snyder, do solemnly swear that I will support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity," and "I, Kimberly McKay, do solemnly swear that I will support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity."

As part of organizational business, the board reappointed the firm of Whistler Pearlstein as district solicitor for a one-year term ending the first Monday in December 2026 under a written fee agreement; the motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board separately appointed Fox Ross Rothschild as district solicitor for labor relations for the same one-year term and per a written fee agreement; that motion also passed by voice vote.

The board approved out-of-district representative designations as listed in the agenda: a representative to the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (named in the meeting as Latanya Lee), a representative to Delaware County Community College (Kimberly McKay), a representative to the Delaware County Scribe Board's legislative council (named in the meeting as Chris Shelton) and a PSBA liaison (Bridget Wiederman). Motions to approve these designations were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.

The secretary was directed to submit for insertion into the minutes the certification that notice of the reorganization time and place was posted and to submit the schedule of regular monthly public meetings for the 2025–2026 school year; the schedule was stated in the meeting as posted at the district's administration building, given in the transcript as "50 East 4 Road, Cabotel, PA." The board concluded by announcing its next regular public work session on 12/04/2025 at 7 p.m. in the Oakmont Administration Building boardroom and adjourning.
