Commissioners accept Riceboro annexation request and approve routine administrative items

Staff explained some fee adjustments reflect a state formula tied to county salaries.
Fees/tipping and procurement: The board voted to waive tipping fees totaling $19,921.92 to assist the City of Hinesville’s stabilization work at the historic Hineshaw School. The board also accepted a sealed bid award recommending the Isle of Wight Community Club for purchase and removal of playground equipment at Susie King Taylor Freedom Park at a bid price of $500.
Intergovernmental agreement: An intergovernmental agreement for the Hinesville downtown development project was not ready for consideration and was removed from the agenda.
Administrative reports: Staff gave routine updates including Fire & Rescue recruit graduation and training schedules, solid‑waste account status, reminder of Dec. 5 Christmas parade, HR performance‑review rollout, and timing for playground equipment deliveries and installations.
What happens next: The county will coordinate with the City of Riceboro on annexation steps and with Hinesville on the school stabilization project; staff will post election qualifying notices and proceed with procurement and holiday scheduling as approved.
