Academic staff presented an information item recommending a new AP European History textbook. The curriculum team said the previous text is out of print and teacher Alex Host evaluated multiple options and involved students in the review process. The recommended text is A History of Western Society, 14th edition; staff proposed ordering 45 copies to support current enrollment of more than 45 students who signed up for the year‑long AP course.
The evaluation used the district’s textbook-rubric, which assesses readability, supports for differentiation, cultural-literacy balance, and alignment with AP standards. Teachers and students provided feedback on readability and content; the board was invited to review a copy and will consider formal approval of the purchase at the Dec. 18 action meeting.
