Board clears routine items and awards Chatham Park solar contract

The Haverford Township School District board approved several routine action items at its Dec. 4 work session and voted to award a contract for a 400 kilowatt solar array at Chatham Park Elementary.
In procedural business the board approved the minutes from its Nov. 20 regular meeting, accepted a bill list totaling $1,037,839.99 and approved change orders presented as a credit of $5,389.21. The board also approved listed personnel actions. All procedural motions were adopted by voice vote.
On the solar project, the board voted to award the construction contract to the lowest responsive bidder, recorded in the bids as Terasol Energies (base bid $693,228) for a 400 kW PV system, with contract execution and payment/performance bonds subject to solicitor review. During discussion staff and board members noted other bids received were in the $800k–$900k range and emphasized that the district expects federal and grant incentives to lower the district’s net cost substantially. A motion to award the contract passed on a voice vote.
