Commissioners approve consent agenda, cancel outstanding warrants; Memorial Hospital lab expenditures approved with one abstention

Sweetwater County commissioners on Dec. 2 approved an 11-item consent agenda that included meeting minutes, bonds, abatements, warrants, letters of support for grant applications and historic-commemoration projects, and requests to ratify CLG comments on BLM actions.
Commissioner Richards asked to remove item 5 (Memorial Hospital Lab Project expenditures) for separate consideration. After the main consent agenda passed, the commission took the removed item up and approved it; the Chair announced an abstention, stating, "I'm going to abstain as although that funding isn't directly to the place in which I'm employed, it does funnel down through there through that, general contractor." The abstention was recorded in the meeting but the motion passed.
Separately, the commission approved a statutorily required cancellation of outstanding county warrants that have not been cashed; staff noted individuals on the list have up to five years to claim remaining funds. Commissioner Jones moved to approve the cancellation and Commissioner Richards seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
