• Rankings are due Jan. 8; staff will identify the top third of applicants (up to a maximum of 10) to advance to interviews.
• Interviews will be held at a special meeting on Jan. 13 (15 minutes per candidate, 5 minute transitions); staff will timekeep and the council will go into executive session afterward to evaluate qualifications and narrow to approximately 2–3 finalists.
• The council will conduct follow‑up interviews at the Jan. 20 business meeting and then nominate and vote on an appointee, who could be sworn in at that meeting.
Council members discussed logistics (randomizing order, managing fatigue during a long special meeting) and public‑records implications of written notes. Staff said up‑to‑date counts: 10 applications received so far; three fully vetted, five in process, two rejected as non‑residents.
