At its Nov. 18 meeting, the Sweetwater County commissioners approved several administrative and grant actions covering county property, road rights‑of‑way and community services.
The board approved Resolution No. 25‑11‑CC‑02 authorizing the sale of county property at 115 East Flaming Gorge Way and authorized the chairman to sign closing documents; staff said the title work was complete and the closing was scheduled for the coming Friday.
Public Works Director Jean Legurski described a proposed SF‑299 amendment with the Bureau of Land Management to expand the right‑of‑way on Hiawatha Road where erosion near Vermilion Creek threatens the county segment. The board authorized submission of the SF‑299 amendment and chair signature, and staff cautioned the BLM process could require archaeological or other studies and the schedule is uncertain.
Grants Manager Christina Marshall reported that the Wyoming Department of Transportation awarded Sweetwater County a congestion mitigation and air quality (CMAQ) grant to apply magnesium chloride dust suppressant to 76.82 miles of county roads. The project budget is $441,855 with a required 20% cash match of $88,371 (included in the FY26 budget). Commissioners approved the CMAQ subrecipient agreement and authorized signature.
Marshall also presented federal FY2026 Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) contracts: Sweetwater County will pass $245,132.16 to local agencies (Rock Springs Young at Heart; STAR Transit; Sweetwater Family Resource Center; YWCA of Sweetwater County) for housing, transportation, childcare and victim services. The tripartite board prioritized housing (46% of funds) and set aside $15,000 for unanticipated needs; commissioners approved the contracts and an access agreement for the Empower case‑management software used for reporting.
All votes on these items were unanimous.
