Board approves generator installation at nine fire stations funded by GEMA grant

Fire Chief Wade told the Board that Bucks Electric formally withdrew its bid for a Homeland Security Grant‑funded generator project and that the selection committee recommended Anderson's Electric to complete the work. Chief Wade said Anderson's bid totaled $517,852.28; combined with a previously paid local match of $172,617.43 from the SPLOST fund, the total project cost is $690,496.71.
Chief Wade said similar generator equipment is already in use in parts of the county. Commissioners confirmed that most of the cost would come from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA) grant and that the county’s matching funds had been accounted for in the SPLOST distribution.
A motion to approve the contract was made, seconded and passed unanimously, 7‑0.
