The Lebanon Board of Works on Dec. 8 approved multiple construction contract awards and a short road closure to allow storm-sewer installation for a future roundabout.
Kevin Krolick, city engineer, recommended awarding the Abner Longley Park storage building renovation contract to Monroe Construction Group LLC after a two-bid opening and review of a PDF submission from one bidder. Krolick said Monroe was “the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder.” The board approved the notice of award by voice vote.
Krolick also reported the lowest complete bid for the Eliza Villalba/Elm Swamp Road intersection improvements came from Ace Paving LLC at $54,750 and recommended a notice of award. “Their bid package was determined to be complete,” Krolick said. The board approved that award.
As part of the intersection work, the board approved a planned, limited road closure of South 400 East (south of East 100 South) to install a pipe across the roadway. Krolick said the contractor planned to close the road on Monday, Dec. 15 and reopen by Tuesday, Dec. 16, maintaining local access for residents during the closure. The board voted to authorize the detour and closure.
Chief Morgan requested permission to surplus one lot of electronic items — about 40 laptops and older Kindle Fires — so IT can wipe and dispose of them; the board approved the surplus request.
What happens next: contractors will be issued notices of award and the city will coordinate detour signage and resident notice for the two‑day closure. No dollar amount was stated for the Abner Longley award in the public remarks.
Votes and motions: The board moved, seconded and approved each award and the closure by voice votes during the meeting.
