Cannon Falls council approves consent agenda including Saint Pius permit and two resolutions

The Cannon Falls City Council approved its consent agenda on Dec. 2, adopting items A through L in a single motion that covered administrative corrections, permits, contracts and two resolutions.

The consent package included a corrected claims accounting period (ending 11/25/2025); approval of the Nov. 18, 2025 council meeting minutes; a gambling premises permit application for Saint Pius Church; a city hall closure request; a health insurance memorandum of understanding for the 40 Niners Union; the 2025 pay equity report; implementation of the Minnesota paid leave law; a professional services agreement for headworks work at the wastewater treatment plant; Resolution 28-46 accepting a $1,000 donation from Invenergy to the fire department; and Resolution 28-47 approving State of Minnesota joint powers agreements on behalf of the city attorney and the police department. The council also introduced, for first reading, Ordinance 4-13, which would amend city code Title 11 relating to fees, charges and rates, and approved the 2026 CETA community development contract.

The mayor called for a motion; the mayor then stated the motion was made by Chad Johnson and seconded by Lisa Novak. The mayor asked "All in favor?" and members responded "Aye;" the mayor declared the motion carried. The council later took a separate voice vote to adjourn.
