Board approves budget amendment, staff hires and 2026–27 calendar; finance report shows tax receipts

The Citrus County School Board approved several routine administrative items on Dec. 9, including personnel recommendations, a budget amendment and the 2026–27 school calendar.

Miss Lowe presented the instructional and support staff recommendations listed on the Goldenrod; Miss Counts moved approval, Mister Frank seconded, and the board voted 5-0 to approve the hires.

The finance director presented the October investment and financial statements and reported the district had received its first November tax payment, described in the meeting as "10 and a half million" for the general fund. Budget amendment number 3 (amended as of November) was moved for approval and passed 5-0; the motion was presented and seconded on the record.

On the calendar, staff reported committee and staff voting results that favored Calendar 3 (staff and SAC support highlighted as deciding factors because of Thanksgiving and Christmas break placement). The board approved the 2026–27 calendar by voice vote, recorded 5-0.

Board attorney Nick Caparicci reported he is reviewing contract and policy handling and will attend policy-inform meetings; a board member requested an update on a social media lawsuit the board entered several years ago and the attorney agreed to research and report back to the board.

All motions related to personnel, budget amendment and the calendar passed with unanimous votes; no dissent or recorded abstentions were noted.
