The committee authorized up to $20,000 for a professional services agreement with Wachtell Tree Science to provide forestry consulting services, staff reported.
Staff said an RFP was sent to three firms but only Wachtell responded; the firm’s proposal lists hourly rates ($175 for project manager, $160 for arborist) and services including acting village forester duties, GIS updates, contract specifications and one-off inspections. Committee members asked for an update on emerald ash borer treatment; staff and a colleague (Scott) said treatments are continuing and are being scheduled every three years in some cases, reducing budgetary impact compared with earlier cycles.
Committee confirmed the authorization is within staff spending authority and does not need board approval. The motion passed unanimously.
