Nonprofit Coastal Quest pitches funding, technical-assistance support for beach and coastal resilience projects

Hoffman said Coastal Quest helps partners by writing grants, assembling capital stacks and acting as an administrative manager for funds. She highlighted recent work with California State Parks on a proactive vulnerability and feasibility pilot in the San Diego Coast District and county-scale resilience partnerships in Orange County that have led to project proposals for climate-bond and conservancy funding.
Coastal Quest asked the work group for input on priorities where nonprofit support could add capacity: targeted funding for environmental‑justice communities, alternative testing-method studies, historical-data analysis to optimize monitoring, and assistance assembling multi‑partner proposals. Hoffman proposed follow-up via a short survey to collect more detailed needs and said the nonprofit can serve as a “glue” between project partners and funders.
Participants welcomed the offer and suggested a survey and follow-up meetings to identify concrete collaborations. Hoffman said she would share contact information and follow up with Water Board staff.
