Forsyth Tech tells commissioners it made Aspen’s top 200 and lays out Vision 2030 goals

The designation follows Forsyth Tech’s Vision 2025 work, Spriggs said, which produced measurable gains in student outcomes: overall completion at 43%, underrepresented minority (URM) student attainment at about 41.6%, gateway course success at 75% and credentials per 100 full‑time equivalent students at about 45.65. "We are so grateful to our founding partner, the Reynolds American Organization," Spriggs said of a new workforce partnership that will be part of the college’s Future Ready Workforce Alliance.
Why it matters: Forsyth Tech serves as a primary workforce pipeline for the county. Spriggs said the college is translating Vision 2025 momentum into Vision 2030 targets that emphasize credentials, retention and employment-readiness: an annual target of 8,000 credentials, a completion goal of 60%, fall‑to‑spring persistence of 85%, fall‑to‑fall retention of 65%, 85% of students participating in work‑based learning and improved transfer outcomes so 75% of transfers earn a bachelor’s degree within four years.
The presentation highlighted a new initiative, the Future Ready Workforce Alliance, which Spriggs said will align curriculum with employers in health sciences, transportation, logistics, advanced manufacturing and technology. "This initiative will build a world class talent pool in Forsyth and Stokes Counties and beyond," a video shown during the briefing said.
Board members asked clarifying questions about enrollment and metrics. Spriggs noted the college is preparing an intensive application for the Aspen Prize and expects to hear results in the spring. She also said the college will provide the board with the full Vision 2025 results and proposed Vision 2030 targets for further review.
Next steps: Spriggs said she will share the written reports with the commission and continue coordination between Forsyth Tech and county officials; commissioners offered congratulations and signaled no formal vote was required at the briefing.
