Public‑health administrator reports triennial review delay, summer program and PE‑51 modernization work

Dailene Wilson, Gilliam County Public Health Administrator, updated the court Dec. 3 on local public‑health activities and the county’s upcoming deliverables under PE‑51 modernization funding.
Wilson said most program reviews went smoothly but the triennial review’s fiscal component remained in limbo due to state fiscal‑team changes, which may produce a few findings related to how receipts and expenditures are documented. She told commissioners she had scheduled individual program meetings and had hired contractors to help produce three required plans: a climate adaptation plan, a health‑equity plan and a larger modernization plan. Wilson invited commissioners to review plan drafts and offered to meet with them once final results arrive.
On services, Wilson said the county’s communicable‑disease numbers remain low and that the WIC program continues to operate two days per month between Condon and Arlington. She said the county’s summer prevention program averaged about 15 children per day, received good parental feedback, and that staff are pursuing a regional partnership conversation with neighboring counties about an alcohol‑and‑drug prevention program, though Gilliam County is not committed to a regional model yet.
Wilson also noted staff training accomplishments (a staff member completed car‑seat specialist training) and local immunization clinic scheduling timed to school exclusion dates to ensure students get caught up locally.
Wilson concluded by saying she will share triennial review results with the court when the fiscal piece is final and offered to walk through the findings with commissioners.
