Joliet Township High School District 204 board approves 2025 levy, supplemental levy for bonds; awards Joliet West Phase 3 bid and ratifies paraprofessional CBA

The Joliet Township High School District 204 Board of Education on Dec. 16 approved a package of fiscal and operational items, including the district's 2025 tax levy and a resolution authorizing a supplemental tax levy to pay principal and interest on outstanding limited bonds.
The motion to approve the 2025 tax levy was moved and seconded and carried on a roll call vote of board members present. The board also adopted a separate resolution authorizing a supplemental levy for bond debt, again passing the motion by roll call.
On the district's summer meal program, administration recommended the district opt out of the 2026 Summer Food Service Program. Staff told the board that post‑COVID changes returning to "seat time" rules have caused a projected operating loss if the district runs a summer meal program and that nearby providers also offer summer meals to families; the board approved the recommendation by roll call.
The board awarded the Joliet West Phase 3 construction work after a presentation from David Norris of Gilbane. Norris told the board that bids opened Nov. 20 across 16 bid packages for West Phase 3 — work that includes locker room renovations, a north gym reroof and conversion of some former PPS spaces back into classrooms — and that the project came in under budget. "We are under budget again, which is really good news. And we are recommending award for the base bid and alternate 1," Norris said. The board approved the recommendation by roll call.
The board also accepted several donations (including contributions toward MLK Day meals and event services) and moved, seconded and approved personnel reports 1–13.
On labor relations, the board ratified a collective bargaining agreement between Joliet Township High School District 204 and AFT Local 604 covering 2025 through 2028. Administration thanked district leadership and paraprofessionals for their work on the agreement; the motion passed by roll call.
