Chittenden Solid Waste District board creates assistant secretary position and elects Betsy Perret

At its Nov. 19 meeting the Chittenden Solid Waste District board voted to create an assistant secretary officer position under the district charter and then elected Betsy Perret to serve in that role through the next organizational meeting (June 2026). The creation of the position and Perret’s election were approved by voice votes.
Staff explained the position is authorized by the CSWD charter (article 3, section 1) and may remain vacant in future years if the board chooses not to fill it. Commissioner Thomas noted that officers are typically elected at the annual organizational meeting and clarified that an officer elected now would serve through the next annual election period unless the board later chose otherwise.
Perret offered brief acceptance remarks and thanked colleagues.
