The Lawrence Police mayor commission re-elected its officers for the 2026 term during a regular meeting, declaring the results effective Jan. 1, 2026.

The chair opened nominations for president, vice president and secretary and said the earlier-than-usual timing was to avoid holiday scheduling conflicts. After nominations were closed, the chair declared himself re-elected president "by acclamation." Charles Wheeler was placed in nomination during the process, but there were no further contested nominations for the presidency.

Ron Christensen was nominated and declared re-elected vice president by acclamation, and Karen accepted nomination and was declared elected secretary by acclamation. The commission also approved the meeting schedule for 2026 and accepted the regular minutes from Nov. 18, 2025, by voice vote.

The chair said the election results "will be effective 01/01/2026," placing the new term at the start of the calendar year. The commission recorded no roll-call tallies in the transcript; approvals and elections were completed by unanimous voice votes during the meeting.

The meeting adjourned after routine business and scheduling discussions.
