SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. — The San Juan County Commission voted unanimously Dec. 15 to approve Resolution No. 252643 authorizing county funds to be invested in the Local Government Short Term Investment Fund for calendar year 2026. County finance staff told the commission the county’s investment policy is conservative and that yields have softened this year, but the fund remains a low‑risk option for short‑term monies.
Ms. Taube, who presented the request, said the fund has delivered benefits to the county in past years. “We’ve reaped some really good benefits,” she said while noting falling interest rates could reduce expected returns this year. Commissioners asked few questions and then moved, seconded and voted the resolution into effect.
The action took place during a brief Board of Finance session at the start of the meeting. The commission later returned to open session and proceeded with the regular agenda.
