City staff updated the Finance Committee on several administrative finance items: the Juniper Cemetery account at TD Bank was closed due to the bank’s upcoming branch closure and “a little over $14,000” was transferred into the city account, with an initial payment of just over $5,000 made for tree removal at the cemetery.
Committee members were reminded of near-term deadlines: department heads must submit budget requests by January 22, and outside organizations must file online funding applications by Monday, Jan. 5, at 6 p.m. Staff said those deadlines and submission links are posted on the city website and social media.
Upcoming presentations were scheduled: Sue Lazar will present findings on waterways on Jan. 12, and staff are preparing a solar-credits report for a January meeting. Staff also said they will coordinate notice to the full council about the finance-committee sessions to encourage attendance on key items.
The committee discussed a bond‑anticipation note related to a school track/tanker project and clarified only two-thirds of the project was included in the note; the school’s fundraising third was not placed into the bond anticipation note and could be tracked in a donor fund or applied later to reduce debt service.
Next steps: staff will keep council informed of finance-committee agendas, post application links, and return with more details on the solar-credits report and cemetery-account reconciliation.
