Resident urges Cascade Charter Township to reject higher-density zoning proposal, citing traffic and safety concerns

During public comment at the Dec. 11 meeting, Tim Torga of 5691 Watermark Court urged trustees to reject a higher-density zoning proposal under review. He said Cascadead's character and lower-density lots are key reasons many residents value the township and that higher density would put additional pressure on traffic, schools and emergency services.
Torga argued proponents of higher density who say lower density depresses property values are wrong and said existing homes benefit from the lower-density character. He warned that allowing multiple houses on private country lanes or narrow shared driveways could make trash pickup and fire or police access more difficult.
"Don't give in to the fast buck pressures of a few vocal developers and instead stand up for safety and invest in the future," Torga said, urging trustees to preserve the township's character.
Trustees thanked speakers for their engagement; no board action on the zoning proposals was recorded at this meeting.
