At its Dec. 11 meeting the Cascade Charter Township Board approved several routine but consequential items affecting finances, personnel and committees.
Reimbursement resolution: Attorney Call Meir explained that adopting a reimbursement resolution allows the township to reimburse prior project costs from future bond proceeds in compliance with IRS timing rules (a 60-day look-back was cited). Trustees voted to approve the resolution enabling reimbursements when bond proceeds are issued.
PA 152 exemption: Staff presented the annual resolution to opt out of Public Act 152 (the state law that limits employer contribution levels to health care). The presenter said the township historically elects to opt out and that benefits are already budgeted. Trustee Nordyke moved and Trustee Rizzi supported the resolution; a roll-call vote carried the measure.
Budget amendments: The board approved year-end budget amendments as presented in the packet. Trustees noted key finance staff were absent but confirmed the packet provided the necessary detail for tonight's vote.
Appointments: The board approved reappointments and new appointments to the Downtown Development Authority, the combined Pathways and Parks Committee, the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals (names presented included John Driscoll, Steve Seffin, Scott Preston, Ken Kaiser, Michelle Lauer, Bob Potter and Isabella Gonzalez). Trustees discussed applicants' backgrounds before carrying the motion to appoint.
Procedural items: The agenda and consent agenda were approved earlier in the meeting, and the board adjourned after closing remarks.
