The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved rezoning a roughly 2-acre parcel on the east side of Weiss Lane from a light-industrial district to General Business 1, a classification that allows neighborhood retail, personal services and restaurants.
Jeremy (staff) presented the application, described the property’s zoning history (annexed around 2006 and later zoned light industrial, then some surrounding parcels transitioned to GB-1), and said the proposed GB-1 zoning is consistent with the comprehensive plan’s neighborhood retail and office designation. “The proposed request is consistent with the comprehensive plan. Staff does recommend approval for the request,” Jeremy said.
Staff said there were no concerns submitted on the rezoning request prior to the hearing. Sarah Norman indicated she had questions but did not object to the request at the meeting. Commissioners asked about current uses adjacent to the parcel; staff replied the existing buildings in the light industrial district are warehouse uses and a self-storage facility.
A motion to approve was made and the commission approved 4B unanimously.
