The Auburn City Council approved a professional services agreement with Road Management Technologies LLC (Item 8C3) to provide a comprehensive roadway infrastructure condition assessment. The first-year cost is $74,448 with options to renew for up to two additional one-year extensions.
City staff said the contractor will install sensors on city vehicles (such as trash trucks) to gather continual pavement-condition data using radar and sonar technologies. That data will be stored in the cloud and presented through proprietary software that converts raw readings into numeric indices and visual prioritization maps for a five-year pavement plan. Staff said the contract leases sensors and the annual fee covers the software package.
Council members asked whether the city could purchase sensors and perform analysis in-house; staff replied the software and analytics are proprietary and the first year covers sensor installation and software access. The contract was approved by voice vote.
