The Brentwood School Board reviewed a draft principal job description and a proposed hiring timeline and voted to appoint board member Dan to serve on the interview committee.
Staff said the draft job posting was a template adapted for Brentwood and that faculty would review the timeline before it becomes public. Administrators proposed using a short QR-code survey to solicit input from staff, families and the broader community; some members cautioned that a wide community survey may not yield timely or representative responses before the search proceeds.
Board members discussed minimum qualifications and whether to pre-specify principal experience. Staff recommended leaving some flexibility to assess the candidate pool before narrowing criteria; board members suggested adding interview questions that probe candidates’ ability to cultivate school culture and belonging.
Administrators outlined a multi-stage interview process: a first round of back-to-back, one-hour interviews (estimated 8–12 finalists), followed by a site visit with finalists and student participation during the final stage. After discussion, the board moved, seconded and approved Dan’s appointment as the board representative to the interview committee.
