Police Jury elects officers, presents service awards and approves appointments
Summary
At the Dec. 1 meeting the jurors elected officers (vice president and president), presented retirement/service recognition, approved appointments to boards and several routine contracts and licenses.
During routine business the DeSoto Parish Police Jury moved through procedural items including presentation of a service award to Anthony Scott Watkins for service (noted as essentially retired), election of officers for the coming year with Trina Boyd Simpson elected president, reappointments to the DeSoto Parish Tourism Commission, approval of the 2026 Tourism Commission budget, and authorization of hauling contracts and alcohol license renewals. Motions for these administrative items were moved and seconded; most carried by voice or roll call.
The chair also recognized Trina Boyd Simpson as the first elected woman juror to serve as president of the DeSoto Parish Police Jury in the jury’s history during the meeting closing.
