Participants at the Alisal Union School District parent advisory meeting approved the prior meeting minutes and discussed nominations to fill two parent representative vacancies on the council.
At the start of the meeting, the facilitator asked attendees to review the minutes provided in English and Spanish and invited comments. The facilitator then called for a vote to approve the minutes and asked attendees to raise their hands; the facilitator indicated an affirmative count (referred to aloud as '11 ayes') and the meeting proceeded.
Presenters explained the nomination process and distributed a nomination form that must be submitted during the meeting; presenters emphasized that parents may self-nominate or nominate another parent and that the nominee need not be present to be nominated. Staff said they would collect forms during the meeting and follow up to schedule interviews and confirm candidate acceptance if nominated. The presenters described the contact information required on the form (name, phone, email, school and grade of the student) and said a short, optional candidate statement can be included.
Claudia Menéndez, identified in the meeting as the district public information officer, announced two district items for parents: a public event with Superintendent Mónica Ansu on Monday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m., and a short parent survey to collect preferences for district communications (text, calls, etc.); flyers and a QR code were available at the tables.
The facilitator closed the meeting at approximately 7:35 p.m., reminded parents there was still time to complete nomination forms, and listed follow-up topics that staff will track, including nutrition, neurodiversity, tutoring and parent training needs.
