The Fuquay Varina Town Board on Dec. 16 adopted a condemnation ordinance directing the demolition and removal of the building(s) at 496 and 498 Longfellow Street.
Town staff member Hennett presented the ordinance, saying the item had been before the board previously and that staff had worked with the town attorney on the process. "We followed the process ... we're now at the point ... to present an ordinance ... for adoption to do the condemnation and demolition for 496," Hennett said while presenting the item.
A motion to adopt the condemnation ordinance directing demolition and removal was made and seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript. Mayor Harris thanked staff for their work on the issue and the board carried the motion.
The ordinance instructs staff to proceed with demolition and removal as recommended; the transcript does not include further implementation dates or contract details for demolition work.
