During the board’s annual organization meeting Dec. 10, trustees completed officer nominations and voted on appointments for 2026.
Trustee Guadalupe Guilpaz Barrera nominated a candidate for president and the board elected Leticia Garcia as president by a 4–0 vote with one absence. Beatriz Perez was elected vice president and board clerk; the superintendent accepted the customary appointment as board secretary.
The board also appointed a representative to the Monterey County School Boards Association Executive Council and discussed whether to appoint a representative to the district’s ALMA (labor-management) body; the ALMA appointment was tabled for a future meeting because trustees said they lacked information about whether the committee is active and whether nominees had been invited.
All organizational motions were passed by the recorded roll calls during the organizational item.
