Redondo Beach council ends temporary smoke‑shop moratorium; coastal portions await Coastal Commission certification

Council members asked clarifying questions about whether the council could extend the moratorium after termination; staff said a new emergency ordinance would be required and that any extension must be supported by new facts linked to Coastal Commission alignment and review.
A motion to approve the termination ordinance was moved, seconded and passed without opposition.
What happens next: Staff read the termination text into the record and will implement the termination as described, with inland termination dated Jan. 1 and coastal termination upon Coastal Commission certification or, if necessary, a new emergency ordinance to extend protection until certification is achieved.
