The Paso Robles City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt a package of operational requirements for food trucks and to direct staff to pursue zoning-code changes that would require Temporary Use Permits (TUPs) for most independent food-truck operations.
Planning staff and ad hoc members presented six recommendations developed in two public ad hoc meetings. Piper Smith, who summarized the panel’s work, said the package aims to clarify when a mobile vendor needs a TUP, streamline enforcement, and address neighbor concerns. "We are recommending a zone code amendment to require Temporary Use Permits for all food trucks operating in the city vending to the public, with the exception of food trucks operating as a caterer for an exclusive event," Smith said.
