Gonzales City Council honors Public Works Director Patrick M. Dobbins with resolution

The Gonzales City Council on Nov. 19 adopted Resolution No. 2025-82 honoring Public Works Director and City Engineer Patrick M. Dobbins for his service to the city, citing leadership on major capital projects and support for youth programs.

The resolution, read by Mayor Pro Tem Liz Silva, noted Dobbins was hired in January 2019 after four years as a contract city manager and highlighted projects including the reconstruction of Alta Street, New City Well No. 7, rehabilitation of the community pool, a $38 million industrial wastewater system scheduled for completion in 2027 and the design and construction of the $30 million Dennis and Janice Caprara community center complex. The document also credited Dobbins with instituting an intern program and working with the Gonzales Youth Council on projects such as the teen innovation center and pedestrian-safety work.

The resolution was introduced and approved during the consent portion of the meeting and was then presented to Dobbins at the podium. He thanked staff and the contracting community, calling the accomplishments "a team" effort: "It's been terrific working for the city of Gonzales," he said.

Council members and staff offered individual congratulations. The council vote to adopt the resolution was taken after a motion and second and recorded as approved. The presentation concluded with remarks wishing Dobbins well as he moves to new endeavors.

The council provided no formal policy action tied to the resolution; it was an honorary recognition of Dobbins's service. The resolution text appears in the meeting record as Resolution No. 2025-82.
