Unity Day Mural, Scholar-Athlete Honors and Student Updates Highlight East Meadow Board Meeting

Marissa Morjillo, Bowling Green PTA president and music and art department secretary, presented the Unity Day mural created by the Art Honor Society and PTA council. Morjillo described the theme as "Rise above with kindness" and said the mural’s feathers were signed by students, faculty and staff to symbolize unity across the district.
Jason Supple, district athletic director, honored fall-season student-athletes and noted that 19 of the district’s 24 varsity teams — including all 12 teams at East Meadow High School — earned scholar-athlete team distinction for the fall season. Supple explained the team distinction requires the GPA of the top 75% of the roster to be 90 or above.
The board recognized county and state honorees from Clark High School and East Meadow High School. The presentation included coach remarks about individual accomplishments; the board highlighted Madison De Leon’s all-state honorable mention and noted she will continue her playing career at Adelphi, and it recognized Zaria Hall, a multi-time county and state qualifier headed to the University of Miami.
Student board member Tara provided updates on clubs, a Thanksgiving service event, winter concerts and winter-sports schedules. In public comment, Aaron Horowitz, representing the East Meadow High School Theater Guild, invited the community to the school’s production of "This Murder Was Staged" on Dec. 11–13 and outlined ticket prices and the senior-citizen Thursday performance.
The recognitions concluded and the board moved on to policy and financial items on the agenda.
