Tipp City — The Tipp City Exempted Village School District Board of Education on Tuesday approved multiple construction and facilities contracts, a set of small budget adjustments and the district’s 2026 property and fleet insurance renewal, while hearing public comment that criticized past administrative decisions.
In a series of largely unanimous roll-call votes, trustees approved fiscal year 2026 appropriation amendments that added $1,600 to other grant funds (music recorders), $10,000 to tournament funds (ticket revenue) and $200 to the Octagon Club. Treasurer Dave Stevens told the board these were routine reconciliations tied to revenue collection and timing.
The board also passed a resolution to use the alternative tax document format under section 5705.281 of the Ohio Revised Code rather than preparing a formal tax budget for fiscal 2027; the treasurer said the county auditor recommended the alternative form because it avoids the newspaper publication and 10‑day public review required for a formal tax budget.
Several facilities contracts were approved:
- A not‑to‑exceed $19,181 agreement with Richard D. Smith & Sons to replace water‑damaged flooring in the LT Ball area. The board described this as a targeted, immediate repair.
- A larger not‑to‑exceed $61,124 agreement with the same contractor to remove and replace a wider area of flooring for consistency and safety.
- An agreement with Environmental Remediation Contractor LLC for removal of an underground storage tank (AST/UST) at the district bus garage, not to exceed $51,800.
Superintendent Aaron Moran reported the Operations Center (Transportation/Maintenance building) passed inspection and the district expects to complete move‑in by the end of the week; he also said the PreK–8 guaranteed maximum price package (GMP 1.3) with Shook Construction is under budget and ready to move forward, and that construction documents for the high school are being finalized with bidding expected in January–February.
The board approved renewal of the district’s property and fleet insurance with Hamler Gingrich Business and Personal Insurance Company for coverage through December 2026.
