Staff agreed to revisit the wording to clarify that extracurriculars do not supplant semester credit while allowing daily make-up credit on a case-by-case basis. The board also discussed the competitive-activities committee proposal to offer parents/guardians discounted seasonal passes (first two passes at 50% off, additional passes at 25% off) and to ensure proper handling of free or reduced-price passes for families who qualify for educational benefits. Staff said they would return with simplified and explicit language about per-season vs. per-year discounts and an approach that preserves privacy for benefit-eligible students.
No final policy votes were taken; members asked staff to provide revised language at the Jan. 20 meeting.
