Portage County commissioners approve routine contracts, transfers and appointments

The Portage County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 26 approved a series of routine administrative actions, including contract extensions, auditing services, interfund transfers and several personnel appointments.

Speaker 2 moved that the board extend the agreement for child and adolescent needs and strengths assessment services (CANS) with Portage County Job and Family Services and the FAIR Foundation; Speaker 3 seconded and roll call votes were recorded as affirmative. The board also accepted a proposal from ‘Julian and Group’ to provide auditing services to the Portage County Engineer’s Office and accepted a proposal involving Johnson Grama for services to the County Juvenile Detention Center; both motions were seconded and carried on roll call.

Financial housekeeping included a motion to direct the auditor’s office to process the Nov. 25 bills, ACH payments, wires and journal vouchers contingent on verification by the county auditor and review by the Department of Budget and Financial Management. The board approved the November 2025 budget amendments as reviewed and recommended by that department and approved several interfund transfers to move funds into public assistance accounts.

On appointments, the board approved the reappointment of Audrey Kessler and Jeffrey Benner to the Portage County Board of Building Appeals and appointed Sarah Morton to the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund Regional Prevention Council. Each appointment was made by motion, seconded and approved by roll call.

The board recorded votes during each roll call; individual affirmative responses of 'Yes' were called for by name during the record. No contested or failed motions were recorded during the actions taken at this meeting.

The commissioners said these routine approvals are intended to keep county operations, auditing and statutory responsibilities on schedule; the board did not set additional follow-up dates for these items at the meeting.
