The Holyoke City Finance Committee on Nov. 24 approved a $5,000 transfer to cover maintenance and cleaning at the War Memorial while the custodian position is vacant.
Mike (DPW) and Laddie, the War Memorial director, explained the previous custodian had lengthy absences and recently resigned; the position has been posted and staff expect to fill it within weeks. In the interim the transfer will fund cleaning services and ensure the facility remains maintained for scheduled events and tenants.
Committee members moved and seconded the transfer and voted unanimously to approve it.
