Commissioner Josh Alford told the commission that the athletic facilities ad hoc committee voted to recommend installing turf on the infields at four county parks and requested that the mayor and the parks-and-recreation director prepare project planning and funding options.
Alford said the committee estimated the phased cost of installing turf at Bradley North, Urbane Road, Elrod and Blue Springs Park at "about $5,100,000.0" and asked that the recommendation be placed on the Dec. 15 voting-session agenda for further consideration.
Alford said the project would be phased to allow continued play during installation. No funding source or timeline was specified at the meeting; commissioners referred the item to the upcoming voting session for potential action.
