Clermont County commissioners recognized Darlene Williams, kennel supervisor at the county animal shelter, as the county's 2025 fourth‑quarter safety champion during the Dec. 17 meeting.
Gary Caddell, the county safety coordinator, described Williams's more than 20 years of rescue experience, FEMA certification and work to reduce workplace incidents through hazard assessments and staff training. Williams spoke briefly and thanked county leadership and staff for support.
Commissioners and staff also reviewed shelter capital projects: a replacement/upgrade project (including washer/dryer installations) and outdoor kennels expected to be complete the following week. Staff said a private donor contributed $60,000 to enable installations and another earlier $20,000 donation from Nestlé Purina had been redirected to the kennel project; county staff explained that capital projects trigger government procurement and permitting requirements and that additional county capital funds and license‑fee offsets contributed to the work.
The board indicated appreciation for staff and volunteers and authorized related change orders and project closeouts as appropriate during the meeting.
