At a Palm Beach County Citizens Committee on Airport Noise meeting, residents and technical experts urged faster action after a change in temporary flight restriction (TFR) procedures sent frequent jet traffic over Flamingo Park and nearby neighborhoods.
Commissioner Greg Weiss told the advisory panel the County Commission heard advice from outside counsel and the county attorney and voted to seek an extension from the Federal Aviation Administration and, if one was not granted, to file a petition for review to preserve the county’s rights and to press the FAA for an explanation and possible mitigation. "That preserves the rights of Palm Beach County," Weiss said, adding the board hoped the move would "bring everybody together to the table" to discuss why the changes were made and what mitigations might be available.
