Staff reopened the application period and received four new submittals totaling $503,629, exceeding available funds by roughly $24,329. Three of the four projects met program intent according to staff; the Town of Loxahatchee Groves requested $140,000 but staff said only about $18,000 of that request met the program’s demolition component. Commissioner Weiss moved to proceed with funding allowable demolition work only and to not fund capital construction elements; Commissioner Marino seconded. The motion passed on the record.
Board members discussed remaining within program rules to be good stewards of funds and emphasized funding demolition rather than capital improvements where program criteria did not support the latter. Staff will implement awards consistent with program intent and return as needed for any adjustments.
