Speaker 7 announced that Tim Doyle has officially set a retirement date after 32 years of service and invited board members to a retirement event. Speaker 7 said Jan Bowen, the senior city engineer, will move into the assistant public works director position and the city is conducting internal recruitment while it continues the search for a water manager certification role.
"Tim Doyle has officially announced his retirement and given us his retirement date," Speaker 7 said, and asked board members to join a planned retirement celebration. Speaker 7 added that Jan Bowen "will be moving over to public works to take the assistant public works director position" and noted the city must still recruit for the water manager position.
Separately, Speaker 10 told the board there is a temporary sewer lift station on Leland Avenue (west of Hillman Street near Harbor Freight Tools) that was installed when an outlet mall was developed. Work for an upcoming residential subdivision requires removal of that temporary station and construction of a gravity sewer main; staff said pumps are starting to fail and the work will occur in the near future.
No formal votes were required for the announcements. Staff said they will continue internal recruitment and will schedule the Leland Avenue work in coordination with developers and construction timelines.
