Longmeadow committee ratifies three‑year agreement with Unit F, expands leave and raises subs pay

The Longmeadow School Committee on Dec. 2 unanimously ratified a three‑year memorandum of agreement with the Longmeadow Education Association Unit F that covers the 2025–2028 school years.
Superintendent Dr. O'Shea said the negotiation subcommittee and the LEA reached agreement on terms that include expanded parental leave, extended bereavement leave and added medical‑leave language for Unit F employees who generally are not FMLA‑eligible. The MOA raises the substitution rate for Unit F members subbing outside their unit from $4.00 per hour to $4.50 per hour and applies a dollar‑value raise to all steps and levels on the Unit F schedule for each year of the agreement.
"Thank the negotiation subcommittee for long hard work on this contract," O'Shea said, adding that the LEA agreed to ratify the contract. A committee member moved and a seconded motion to approve the MOA; the committee voted by roll call and recorded unanimous approval.
The MOA also includes housekeeping language; O'Shea said the three benefits mentioned (parental leave, bereavement and medical‑leave language) extend to other settled collective bargaining agreements as well. The committee did not discuss implementation timelines at the meeting.
