Longtime Rangeley town attorney Steve Langsdorf says he will retire

Steve Langsdorf, the town attorney who has represented Rangeley for nearly 35 years, told the Selectmen on Dec. 15 that he will retire "as of the end of... this year." Langsdorf said Rangeley was his first municipal client and recounted decades of cases and personal ties to the community, including family connections to local camps and the Mingo Springs Hotel. He introduced members of the firm who will continue providing legal services — Kristin Collins, Kim Ferrante and Grama Lewis — and said he expects a smooth transition.
Langsdorf thanked the board and town for the opportunity to serve and said he would be available during the handoff to his colleagues. Selectmen and the town manager offered the board’s appreciation and well wishes for his retirement.
The announcement was made during the meeting’s opening remarks; no formal action or vote accompanied the statement.
