The Lakeville Select Board voted Dec. 16 to extend last-call hours for restaurants with liquor licenses on New Year's Eve to 1:30 a.m., with all patrons required to be out by 2:00 a.m. The extension represents a 30-minute delay from the town's usual 1 a.m. last call.

Member Carboni moved the motion and members seconded it. Board members asked clarifying questions about current hours and confirmed the change would be handled as an exercise of the board's authority as the local licensing authority.

A separate proposal to extend package-store closing hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve was discussed; the board left the standard 11:00 p.m. closing time in place and tabled the item until or unless package stores request an extension.

The restaurant-hours extension passed on a roll-call vote.
